Nestled at 6 Mountjoy Parade, this cafe blends a casual, cosy atmosphere with genuinely thoughtful service, which is often noticed by regulars and visitors alike.

Ideal for mornings or leisurely lunches, the cafe attracts a diverse local crowd—from families sharing large, flavourful toasties to solo visitors savoring a well-made cappuccino or latte. The menu highlights stand out with robust offerings like the Porkie Pickle toastie, which comes packed with fresh ingredients and is especially appreciated for its authentic artisan bread. There’s a good range of options catering to different dietary needs, including vegan and gluten-free choices, reflecting a considerate approach to the menu.

The vibe here suits those who prefer a quieter, more intimate setting. Even on rainy or overcast mornings, it can feel especially welcoming, with a warmth that encourages slowing down and enjoying the moment. The staff contribute to this relaxed feel by being approachable and attentive, helping the space avoid the rush-and-go pace that can dominate cafes near the main street. This is a gem of a place, away from the main busy shops & a lovely peaceful setting, brilliant food & super friendly staff. Vegan & gluten free options. We were a family group of 5 & had a delicious lunch, toasties were huge & packed with fresh quality ingredients exceptionally flavoursome. My GF Otway artisan bread was divine. Coffees top notch. Also returned next day for take away coffee & the vegan GF muffin fresh from the oven was one of the best I have ever had; what was that delicious centre? The scones also looked fabulous.

Riverbank Cafe in Lorne is an absolute winner! This place has such a great vibe and the food is just perfect for a casual lunch. I ordered a toasty and it was fantastic, grilled to perfection and packed with flavour. The coffee was also top-notch, exactly what I needed. What really stood out, though, was the gluten-free toasty, impressed with how delicious and well-prepared it was. It's so great when a cafe gets the gluten-free options right. Friendly staff, a lovely location by the river, and delicious food that caters for everyone. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Lorne!

We as riders don't usually stop at this cafe on weekend ride, but today road was closed due to a cycling event, so we stopped there. I must say I will consider this cafe too from now as the ambience is much more pleasent than down the road where we usually stop and the coffee is good, just a bit more expensive though. Cafe staff are so friendly and welcoming, too.
